PlacerSustain: How it Works

PlacerSustain Does:

  • Identify and Provide Communication Links between Existing Governmental, Non-Profit, Community Organizations, Businesses, and Individuals with Sustainability Interests in Placer County.
  • Support on-going strategic thinking and cooperation between participants.
  • Provide a channel for information about regional and national sustainability efforts to local interests, including facilitating the direct delivery of regional and national sustainability related services to local individuals and organizations.
  • Provide a channel for information about local interests to local, regional and national sustainability programs.
  • Encourage participants to form, as needed, partnerships with local, regional, and national sustainability interests to implement sustainability related stragegies of partners locally, at the grass roots level.
  • Expand local grass roots constituencies interested in participating and supporting sustainability efforts, including the efforts of regional and national partners.
  • Provide a mechanism for participants to explore efficiencies through cooperation, including the resolution of program overlaps and competing interests.
  • Identify possibilities and opportunities for cooperation/collaboration.
  • Support the expansion of a local community of sustainability practice and learning, including the exchange of expertise.
  • Publish information about the interests and values of participants.
  • Support the strengthening of the capacity of existing sustainability efforts at all levels.
  • Improve the ease of access of local individuals and organizations to information about sustainability opportunities and resources.

PlacerSustain Does Not:

  • Compete with or duplicate the program interests of participants.
  • Control, Censor, or Moderate the expression of the sustainability interests, values, and views of participants.
  • Interfere with the direct delivery of sustainability services by regional or national programs to local individuals and organizations.
  • Seek exclusivity in local sustainability network development.
