Opportunities to Get Involved

The following is a list of projects or initiatives that have been discussed and/or launched by PlacerSustain.  If you have ideas about an initiative that you would propose, and would like support, you may comment below and publish your views in one of our Forums.

SHORT FORM

  • REGISTER, JOIN PLACERSUSTAIN AS A MEMBER, BRING OTHERS
  • PUBLISH YOUR PERSONAL STORY, INTERESTS, VALUES, PROJECTS, PROPOSALS. INCLUDE ANY BUSINESS INTERESTS.
  • GET INVOLVED WITH ONE OF THE EXISTING INITIATIVES OF PLACERSUSTAIN MEMBERS (See the PlacerSustain Mission Statement-Goals)
  • CREATE A PROJECT OF YOUR OWN AND SOLICIT SUPPORT FROM THE NETWORK
  • BRING YOUR OWN INITIATIVES AND PROJECTS INTO THE PLACERSUSTAIN NETWORK FOR INCREASED SUPPORT, AND USE OUR SITE'S COLLABORATION TOOLS.
  • CREATE YOUR OWN SUSTAINABLE LIVING STRATEGY AND CONTINUE CHANGING YOUR CONSUMPTION/BUYING PRACTICES, INCLUDING JOINING OUR "BUY LOCAL" AND "GREEN COMMERCE" PROGRAMS. PUBLISH WHAT YOU ARE DOING ON THE SITE.
  • POST INFO ON YOUR SUSTAINABILITY PRACTICES IN OUR "OPEN WIKI," WHAT'S WORKING FOR YOU.
  • POST LINKS TO WEB RESOURCES USING OUR "WEB LINKS" APPLICATION.

LONG FORM

  • Join PlacerSustain and start publishing information about you, your personal and business interests, your goals and concerns, the assistance you seek from others-- tell the continuing story of what you are doing and why.
  • Help with our Membership Drive linking individuals and organizations.
  • Use PlacerSustain web tools and organizational support to help form communities of sustainability interests among your friends and associates or in your neighborhood.
  • Support the Placer County Sustainability Initiative (see the "Initiative Support Petition" under additional site links.  Help is needed on a wide variety of Initiative work, e.g. getting support endorsements, community outreach, contributing to the Action Plan process.  Use the "Contact Us" link to get more information, and publish your questions and proposals on our Forum.
  • Help form a working Sustainable Energy Collaborative for Placer County.
  • Participate in forming Local Food Buyer's Cooperatives.
  • Help support our efforts to work with the Arts Community as a powerful aid to inspiring our local sustainability efforts.
  • Create a Sustainability Plan personally, or for your business/organization. 
    If you wish, we can publish your Plan, which is a learning resource for others.
  • Help form working groups of people with interests similar to your own to take on projects.
  • Contribute to our Open Wiki knowledgebase on matters where you have experience and expertise, e.g. conserving energy, growing food, etc. The Open Wiki can also be an on-going journal of what people and  organizations are doing, creating our own sustainability historical archive--recording the story.
  • Get Included in our Expert Directory and publish information that helps the public connect with you, as a business and/or on a volunteer basis.
  • If you own a local business, participate in our Placer "BuyLocal" Directory.
  • If you are a provider of Green goods and services, participate in our Green Commerce Directory.

We have created various web forms and contact links to get involved in the above. If there is an opportunity or interest that we have not yet covered in an existing form or link, use the Discussion Forums to communicate. We will monitor the Forums and respond.
